I wanted to do a blog about a day in Asia. Simply wanted to shine perspective on what it looks like to be a missionary in Asia. So, let’s begin…

I choose Friday of this week. It was a normal day. I was staying at my friends house because they had visiting family. We then went to the Church that the language school staff (I am a staff there even though I am doing limited English teaching until I learn more Lao within the next six months) have every Friday morning. It is in Lao with English translating. We then had lunch together as a group, people from the Uk, America, Australia and Laos. I then had my Lao class which I have 5 days a week for 1 1/2 hours. Then proceeded to go home, take a short nap, (because language learning is exhausting), took a walk, showered, yoga (to help with muscle tightness from falling from a waterfall a couple days ago)and watched a movie in Lao. I will confess I have been binge watching some English media to give the brain a rest.

I told you all of that in detail to simply say that if you live in America, or Laos or wherever you are living, that you don’t have to live abroad to live. But that leaves the question. What are you living for? What are you spending you’re time on? Because, if whatever we do is to the glory of God, then let’s live unto Him.

Last note is that I find so much beauty in seeing people live in other cultures. One really sad and beautiful picture I saw was in Cambodia. While I was there, before Laos I learned about the genocide that happened not but 50 years ago. It was heart wrenching to see the pictures of the torture. But, as I walked the river it was beautiful to watch as some people were skateboarding, swimming, buying street food, or painting. My thoughts at that moment were what a weird, yet beautiful world we live in. An example would be Cambodia. Who went through hell, but 50 years later are just living life as best they can. What a beautiful world we live in.
