This is my final blog post for the World Race. I cannot believe it has already been a year! It feels like it was only a few weeks ago that I hopped on a plane and flew to Guatemala. To even try to sum up some of this year feels nearly impossible, bur I am going to try. In Guatemala we partnered with a ministry that was run by a local and his family. It was powerful for me to watch someone with such humility serve his community. In Costa Rica we partnered with a ministry to help physical need. We also worked with a dance ministry that empowered the locals. It was beautiful to see different kinds of ministry, and see how all ministry has it’s different places in the kingdom. In the Dominican republic we worked with a lot of women and children. I saw children get excited about Jesus, and women set free from so many chains of unforgiveness. In Turkey we just built relationships everywhere we went and hung out with a lot of college students. It was cool to see how simple ministry can be. It doesn’t have to be big, or elaborate. In Georgia we did a lot of ministry to each other. We built up the body and made it stronger. In Armenia we were stretched thin as working with special needs kids always demanded something. I learned a lot of dependance on the Lord there. In Kyrgyzstan ot was also stretching as we were teaching english to highschoolers. I learned a lot about love and affection there. The people of Kyrgyzstan are so sweet. In Jordan we are currently making connections with nonprofits and meeting up with new friends. We are sharing the Gospel with everyone we meet. I would say that the way my life has been changed is my perspective of the world. It is not only a broken, hurting world. It is a world that is hungry for hope and needs to know that hope is only found in Jesus. It is full of people wanting relationships, who genuinely want to be kind. It is full of people on fire for the Lord and His kingdom. You cannot base your world and what you know of it from a screen. You have to go and see it for yourself. Along the way ask the Lord to give you His eyes, to see those who need to hear the truth. You may never leave your Country and that is okay. But I want to challenge you with asking the Lord how He wants you to serve Him right where you are at. I love you and so does Jesus!!!
Thanks Elizabeth.
What a good recap of 11 countries in 11 months. How the core of the gospel never changes. It’s the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. But how it is presented and how we can as Paul said to the church in Corinth, “…become all things to all men, that by all means and methods I might save some”, can have wide parameters, creative approaches, and be culturally relevant.
Elizabeth, like young Timothy, you “do the work of an evangelist. “With kindness, Great listening skills, and a willingness to sacrifice deeply so that you don’t log just in “word and tongue but in deed and in truth. “
So proud of you Elizabeth and I am super excited for your next step.
You truly embody, “life is mission and mission is life”.
Matt! You are a Barnabus, believing in others amd encouraging in the fath. You see God working in people in the most beautiful way! I cannot wait to see you at debrief.
