Have a ever told you there is a radical way to live? A way that is so different, mind blowing, and aww striking that you would never want to go back? If I haven’t told you, I’m sorry.

Now this radical life is not easy. It takes all of your time (which is not ours to begin with), all of your energy, sacrifice and does a large work in your own heart which is painful sometimes. This Christ centered life not only changes others, but does a lot of change in you.

Now, let me explain in more clear, not so broad words. Living a radical life is living a life so sold out for Jesus, that you would never want anything else. It looks like on your day of rest talking to the person in the coffee shop next to you about this Jesus that changed your life. It means allowing this Jesus to work on things in your life that are so deep, that no Counselor, or Sociologist could touch the surface of.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I know everyone has different callings and some peoples radical lives look different than others. But let me ask you this? When was the last time you shared Jesus with someone? When was the last time you felt so close to your community that they could tell you something in you that was not Godly and you knew it was to call you higher? When was the last time you felt as though the Word was directly speaking to you?

Now, some may ask, how does one even start to live the radical life? If you want a really practical tool there is a book called “The Radical Life.” Some other basic things is to start asking the Lord, is my life, time and energy completely surrendered to you Lord? Have I given up what was given to me? Am I living out of sacrificial love? Does my heart break for the homeless man I just passed? What about the crazy lady that lives across town? The drug addict? So on and so forth?

This is not a post to condemn anyone’s choice on how they live, but to challenge the normal mindset of living for ourselves. Jesus did not say I’ve come to die for you so that you could go on saying, “Oh, that’s nice,” and then live however we want. He died to change us and set us free. He told us, “Take up the cross and follow me.” Are you carrying your cross? Or, are you wasting time on what feels right in the moment?
